A Day In Indiana with Country Fox

June 23, 2020 by Debbie

This weekend Country Fox went on a day trip to Indiana, PA. While in Indiana, we did some recycling, stopped to have a beer, stocked up on alcohol, bought some items for home projects and ate dinner.

Recycling in Indiana

Recycling is some-what easy and is incredibly helpful for the environment. Everyday we hear news about plastic in the ocean destroying the water and animals dying because they have eaten it. Broken glass along trails and parks can injure children and pets.

The Country Fox is dedicated to recycling. Unfortunately the closest recycling outpost that accepts glass is in Indiana. We store our glass recyclables at home and when we have a decent amount we load up our car and take them out. The Indiana County Recycling Center is open everyday. During the weekends, all the bins can be found outside to the right of the building. During the week days, people can drive around back and find the bins inside the building.

Refreshment Break

After our stop at the recycling center, we headed to Levity Brewing for a nice cold beer. Now that Indiana County is in the Green Phase, businesses are opening back up. Levity is one of the local favorites that has opened its doors again. You can visit their website or Facebook page for more information on hours and events.

Home Project Pit-Stops

After a nice refreshing drink, we headed out to the Fine Wine & Good Spirits store and Lowe’s. We needed some gin for our cocktail and some lighting items for a future project.

One of our favorite cocktails is: The Bee’s Knees. The Bee’s Knees is a classic Prohibition era gin cocktail. The ingredients are gin, honey simple syrup and lemon juice. Recipes can be found on Pinterest. Generally we do 2 ounces of gin, 3/4 an ounce of honey simple syrup and about 1/2 an ounce lemon juice per serving.

Indiana Lowe's

The next stop was Lowe’s for some home improvement project supplies. One of our rooms is in desperate need of a ceiling fan. We were able to get a nice light/fan combo for around $70.

We also needed some items for another project. Remodeling the light fixtures above our kitchen island has been a project that we have kept on the back burner. We now have the idea fully formed and all the items purchased. A couple of items have been purchased from Ebay and are being shipped. Once they arrive we can get started.

It should be a quick project once we have all the articles on hand. I’ll post photos on Facebook and Instagram once we are done with the new lighting.

Dinner

Teerak Thai Restaurant Indiana PA

After all of this, we were getting hungry and headed off to Teerak Thai Restaurant. We were thrilled that they were now open to dining. They have a large menu with a diverse amount of options.

We ordered an appetizer of Won-ton Soup. I ordered an Entree of Cashew Nut with Chicken. Jason ordered Grilled Chicken with Fried Rice. My dish was served with white rice and vegetables. It was very tasty!

Overall it was a very productive first day of summer. We made sure to lessen our carbon footprint by recycling. Country Fox helped to support two local businesses. We were able to get started on a long over due home project. Looking for another business to visit in Indiana? Check out my previous blog here.
