11 Local Places to Eat or Drink

January 4, 2021 by Debbie

You may be like many people who have begun a new “diet”. Perhaps you are doing a “dry January”. Or maybe you are financially tapped out after the holiday season.

If you are one of these people, keep this list in mind for later this year. Not one of these people? Looking to help stimulate the local economy? Want to help out those financially devastated after being shut down during the normally bustling holiday weeks? Here is a list of businesses that could use our support.

Ebensburg Area

1. Coal Country Brewing

I have mentioned Coal Country many times. They are a small local brewery that has crafted some pretty tasty beers. You can read more on the brewery here.

2. Everyday Gourmet & Fine Foods

Found along High Street, this eatery has a wide variety of tasty foods. Pre-COVID they had served a Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner Menu. Currently they have a different Menu to keep up with the challenges. Keep checking in on their Facebook page to get updated with their current fancy food offerings and see what yummy desserts they have concocted.

3. Pour on Center

I have mentioned Pour a few times in previous posts. They have a smaller yet varied menu. They change their meals based upon seasonal availability. Their Brick Oven Pizza is simply amazing. Stop by their Facebook page for updated food and beer offerings and changes in hours.

4. Moonshine Mine

Local Distillery
The large variety of Moonshine.

I couldn’t create a list of places to stop and not include Moonshine Mine. Near to Nanty-Glo, this distillery offers a mind blowing number of alcoholic options. From flavored moonshine to straight whiskey, they have it all. Interested? Check out their page.

Johnstown

5. Balance Restaurant

There are many places to eat and drink in Johnstown, so narrowing this section down was a bit tricky. Balance has made quite a splash in Johnstown. They offer some truly creative meals along side more traditional dishes. All are delightful! Want to know their hours? Visit their page here.

6. Stone Bridge Brewing Company

Another local brewery. Country Fox and friends have shared a few beers here during hot summer days. We’ve never been disappointed by their pours. Want to check them out? Check in here.

7. Legend’s Caribbean Grill

Looking for some fantastic Caribbean food? This is your place. They started offering their authentic cuisine via food truck. Later last year they announced they would be opening a brick and mortar location. Anyone wanting great Jerk Chicken or any of their other tasty foods should check them out here.

8. Tap 814

They consider themselves a “gourmet speakeasy” and I couldn’t agree more. They have gourmet grilled cheese, fancy dips, elegant wings and cocktails. The atmosphere throws visitors back to the days of prohibition. Have I piqued your interest? Visit their page for more info.

Indiana

9. Levity Brewing Co

Country Fox has visited Levity quite a few times in the past. They started small and grew fast thanks to their quality drinks. They added a small menu a few years ago. This isn’t your usual bar food either. I highly recommend visiting them for some great snacks and even better beer.

10. Teerak Thai Restaurant

Teerak Thai Restaurant Indiana PA

Anyone interested in authentic Thai food MUST stop here. They have a diverse menu with a little of every thing. I have never once been disappointed in a meal from here. I have been treated to several lunches here with my employer, so I have gotten to try many meals. To see their hours, visit their page here.

Disobedient Spirits

Just outside of Indiana is the small town of Homer City. Here you can find a delightful distillery. Patrons can purchase bottles of Disobedient’s fantastic spirits or they can purchase a creative cocktail. Visitors can play pool or shoot darts in one of the rooms. Check out their page to see what new cocktail creations they concoct.

Local Places to Eat or Drink

I only listed 11 establishments today. There are countless eating and drinking establishments that have been suffering financial hardships due to COVID. If you are able, it would be helpful to these establishments if you could stop by for a bite or a sip or get some take out and enjoy at home. If you know of other places to eat or drink feel free to leave a comment.
