BBQ in Carrolltown

BBQ in Carrolltown
Island Barbeque outside of Carrolltown.

We visited a small food stop for BBQ in Carrolltown this Sunday. Island Barbeque has been around since 2015 and is going strong. Besides this brick and mortar location, they also have a food truck.

Island BBQ slow smokes their ribs, pork, chicken, and brisket to create a tender meat with a nice smoky taste. One aspect Country Fox really appreciates is their drive to use local produce whenever possible. Another perk is that their tasty food creations are made from scratch.

The owners have been in the food service industry for over 18 years after obtaining their degree in culinary arts. It is no wonder they can create some truly tasty creations.

There is a nice little pavilion next to Island BBQ. During normal times, patrons can sit outside and enjoy the nice weather. However, due to Covid-19 and the ever changing rules please check on the status of the outdoor seating.

Menu and Other Items

Their menu is smaller, but with many options. They offer several sandwiches, burgers, wraps, salads, sides and appetizers. Island BBQ also has a wide array of desserts to choose. They run daily and weekly specials as well. For example, during Lent they have fish options and during the fall they have pumpkin ice cream.

Busy patrons should keep an eye out for their Thanksgiving catering come November. They also offer Christmas time cookie trays, monkey bread, nut rolls, pumpkin rolls, pies and cinnamon rolls. Keep an eye out on Facebook for their updates and ordering info.

Island BBQ is open from the beginning of April to the end of September. They are available all year for their catering services, though. Their food truck can be found all around as well, so keep an eye out. The food truck has even been at Coal Country Brewing. To learn more about them, visit my blog here.

Our BBQ in Carrolltown Experience

Country Fox traveled to Island Barbeque on Sunday. We each ordered a meal: one Pulled Pork Dinner and one Brisket Dinner. Each dinner comes with a choice of two sides. We both got coleslaw. I chose sweet potato fries and Jason chose regular fries. It was $20 total.

We waited less than five minutes for our order. We headed home and dished out our meals. The fries were a smidgen soggy, but that I attribute to the 15 minute drive home in its container. They were still tasty. My brisket was tender and smoky. The coleslaw was very nice too. Jason enjoyed his pulled pork. He found it had a nice smoky flavor and tender too. He liked his coleslaw and fries as well.

We very much enjoyed our meals. We will definitely be back. Next time we plan on having one of their to-die-for desserts. If you are interested in trying them out, you can find their menu at their website or follow them on Facebook to see their daily and weekly specials.
