Brigid’s Cross Religious and Spiritual Treasures
Country Fox visited Brigid’s Cross Religious and Spiritual Treasures recently. We love to shop local and this little shop is worth a visit!
The Shop
Located in Cambria City Historic District, Brigid’s Cross opened it’s doors to the public earlier this year. The shop is small, but cozy. St. Brigid is a Catholic saint from Ireland. She was the patroness of the Roman Catholic Church Parish in Lilly, PA. This church was the home parish of one of the owners.
In 2019 the former St. Brigid’s School in Lilly was demolished instead of being reporposed. This drove a determination to preserve the legacy of St. Brigid’s Parish. This was the inspiration for naming the shop.
Outside the shop visitors can find century-old carved statues of St. Columba and the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Bricks from the former St. Brigid’s School are also used in the shop. Interested on learning more about St. Brigid? Visit Brigid’s Cross website.
What Treasures can be Found
The shop is a treasure trove of religious and spiritual goods representing many faith traditions and practices. Visitors can find religious jewelry for Catholics, Christians and Jews.
Books line many shelves. There are books for adults and children available. Many religious tradtions are represented with the book selection. Books of Judaism sit near books about saints. Not far away are books on Nordic and Egyptian Mythology. Runes are found near Catholic prayer candles and sage bundles.
Lovely scented candles and sprays from Pennsylvania Primatives can be found around the shop. Soaps by Huffman’s Artisan Soaps are available. Irish Catholic wall art hangs near beautifully woven dream catchers.
